How to install a shower enclosure

Shower enclosures are ready-to-install, making them a great feature to improving any bathroom.  Once the old shower is removed, all that is left is installing the new shower enclosure. If you are adding a shower enclosure to an area that was not used prior, you will need to do the proper preparation and installation with plumbing before you continue.
Things You'll Need:
  • Shower enclosure
  • Silicone sealer
  • Shower tray
  1. Choose a shower tray that is within the budget and fits the space where the shower will go. There are a variety of styles, sizes and shapes to choose from, and also quadrant styles that can fit in a corner. These shower trays are made of different materials, but those made of acrylic filled cast resin are one of the most durable and quality trays to choose from. Also make sure that the tray provides plenty of standing room, and that it has a skid resistant base.
  2. Make sure that the drain on the shower tray will be lower than the tray itself, in order to drain.  It is best to install the shower tray first, since the shower enclosure and tiles can change the size of the tray and cause an issue if trying to put the tray in last.
  3. Place the shower tray in the desired area and seal with high-quality watertight sealant completely around the tray. It is imperative that the best sealant is chosen, so that there are no leaks that can damage the floor under the shower, or the wall surrounding the enclosure.
  4. Choose a shower enclosure that matches the shower tray. Many enclosures made come with frameless glass, which allows for easier cleaning since there are no lime or hard water deposits that build up in hard to reach areas. Make sure that the measurements of the enclosure include the height taken up with the shower tray, and there is enough clearance for the ceiling.
Attach the shower enclosure to the wall with the provided screws. Then, seal all openings and along the edges with high-quality silicone sealant and allow to dry for 24 hours before using.
